Can you believe November is already here? Christmas displays are already popping up in many stores and we will soon be running full speed into the holiday season. It is one of the most fun and busy times of the year but today we’re putting the breaks on and talking all about November’s birthstones.

  • The word “citrine” is the French word for lemon, a fitting name considering its color
  • Natural Citrine is rare in nature and is a type of Quartz
  • Because of its color, it used to be confused with Topaz
  • The yellow hues are caused by trace amounts of iron in quartz crystals
  • Not only is it one of November’s birthstones, it also commemorates the thirteenth anniversary
  • It is one of the most affordable and popular yellow gemstones on the market.
  • It is known as the merchant’s stone because it is associated with success and prosperity

  • Topaz is found in many different colors
  • Once the rarest color of Topaz, blue is now the most common due to modern abilities to enhance its color
  • Imperial Topaz is the most prized color, a vibrant orange hue with pink undertones
  • Gem commemorates the 23rd anniversary
  • In 1768, the royal court in Portugal celebrated the discovery of Imperial Topaz
  • Ancient Egyptians and Romans associated Topaz (in it’s golden form) with the sun god, giving it the power to heal and protect

It’s safe to say that November has two stunning birthstones. Either one would look beautiful as the center piece for earrings, rings, pendants, and more. If you are interested in creating a special piece of jewelry with these or any other stone, give us a call (252-451-9270).
